I am purchasing a laptop that has wireless capabilities. My home computer is set up with an ATT DSL Modem. I want to purchase a wireless router to hook up to the DSL Modem. Can any one give me a suggestion as to which one to buy and possibly the instructions to hook it up?
I appreciate information anyone can give.
Thanks.
Julie

It's pretty straightforward hooking a wireless router to a modem -- make sure you don't buy one with built-in ADSL unless you are prepared to set it up to replace the ATT unit.

As far as brand is concerned most people trust Netgear and Linksys and you can rely upon them to still be around when you need firmware updates. Netgear has a pretty good support forum.

However, one of the easiest units I ever set up was an old Zoom model -- by contrast a Dlink which was much more capable was also confusing to install.

Thanks so much for the info. I certainly will get wither a Netgear or Linksys. Probably will be back with questions if I can't get it hooked up.
Thanks again.
Julie
