Is it ok to use different brands of RAM that have the same timings and clock? or is it a better idea to get the same brand?

To be more specific, can I mix Corsair XMS2 with Crucial Ballistix or G.Skill (DDR2 800, 4-4-4-12)?

yes you can, and its a fairly good chance it will work....

you also run the risk tho of instability when using dual channel..and in some rare cases..the mobo might just plain not run. Its not very common, but i seen some picky mobos before.
