I have my cpu oced to 3.3ghz, when i check in cpuz it says 2.4ghz even when im running orthos or prime95. I have minimum cpu usuage to 50% and maximum at 100% in windows power settings and know this is the cause of my problem. I dont want to set the minimum to 100% because of thermal issues, is there anything else I can do to force it to utilizie all 3.3ghz when running cpu intensive programs and then underclock itself when idle or using less cpu intensive software? Thanks in advance.

Speedstep is slowing your cpu down to save power.

Either turn speed step off or run an application to use cpu time before running cpuz

(3300 / 8 ) * 6 = 2475

He has a different problem. Speedstep should not be active when he's running orthos or prime95. Try TAT and put your throttle to 100%. It should run your CPU at 3.3Ghz.
BTW, you should not run your cpu clock this high if you have heat problem. If the cpu temp is too high, it will throttle back and makes the overclocking not worthwhile.

TAT wont install on my computer. I can install it but fails to start. The thing is I know what speedstep is doing but it shouldnt underclock the cpu when running cpu intesive progeams which it is doing. Weird problem. Is anyone using vista and experiencing similar problems?
