I am looking for an alternative to Microsoft Visio, i.e. some software which can open VSD files.

I hv seen DIA etc , they act as replacement of Visio in the sense that they use there own formats but then do open the VSD. I need something which can open VSD file and is freeware or opensource.

Humm Open Office does have an application called Draw. I think this is their answer to Visio. But I couldn't figure out if it supposed vsd files or not.

Give SmartDraw a try. It's not freeware or opensource, but it's a great alternative to Visio.

there are many of them, just google and you will find some. but take note that there's learning curves to the new software. Also, the software is only similar, not exact the same.
