Xp ps2 & usb mouse not working

xp pro ps2 optical mouse stopped working, I tried adding several usb optical mice, which were all seen but didn't work either. USB are seen without problems in device manager, ps2 shows problem device cannot start code 10. I tried system restore but only had 1 day, tried many different mice,tried enabling and disabling mouse port in bios, tried removing all usb in device manager, no irq conflicts. Up to date virus, ran malware bytes, it did have previous viruses removed and I just removed Bloodhound.Exploit.281. This is a Dell Optiplex GX260, if that matters. I can use remote desktop and pcanywhere on it and they work fine. Any ideas??
