My freshly installed XP activates the SSD drive every second (the HDD light blinks shortly). Even when the system is idle. I killed all of the processes that I could from the task manager, stopped all the services that I could, and even uninstalled the antivirus. Nothing helps. The indexing service is disabled, and so does the paging file.

I run ProcessMonitor, and it couldn't find any activity that repeats itself every second. The only indication that the SSD is active is that every second the HDD light blinks. It even happens in safe mode.

Farther system info:
The OS was installed from a CD that was maid with nLite. nLite merged the original XP installation CD and SP3 into one installation CD. The CPU is i7 860. 4GB ram. GTX 260 video card. The only user account is Administrator.

Any ideas what can be the reason for this activity ?

Solved. The constant HDD light blinking is caused by the optical drive Autorun feature.
