Thats an excellent price for the 2600XT 256mb that is I sincerely hope that the low price doesn't reflect its performance! 8)

i don't like Fudzilla, it is better to visit xtreview. and is there any difference if i use a 256mb version not the 512mb version. i have 1400x900 resolution.

I would think the 512 offers more bandwidth, therefore should be better in higher resolutions. plus 512 sounds better.

Im no techie though, i learn what the forums teach

From what i understand ddr11 is inferior to gddr3 ok so do they mean gddr3 or what .
Not trying to be pickey dont even know if there is such a thing as ddr3 if not then obvious thats what they ment but i cant be the only one with limited knowledge that this would look odd to.

Agreed .
old news but according to those benchmark x2600 xt benchmark the perfomance of ATI radeon is about the same as 8600GTS , we should expect 8800GTS for 250$ soon :D

There is a 512meg GDDR4 version available there at €179. I wonder how that performs.. should be good.

As for the benchmark after ati update their drivers it shouild be better. I remember reading somewhere that running 2900xt on nvidia drivers actually got a better result.

I can't believe it's $50 difference between the 256 and 512MB versions of the card. I still don't think they'll need that much space, but we'll have to wait and see under DX10 benching to be sure.

BTW, that other site you linked to is crap and full of pop-up adds, Fudzilla is better than that.
June 23, 2007 12:02:01 AM

wait..is it just me or for the 2600XT 256mb the memory clock is 1400mhz effective and the 512mb ddr4 variant is 2200mhz effective?! 8O :evil:  now I see why these things are so cheap! God I hope the website screwed this one up.

gddr4 is faster than gddr3. Whats the big problem with that?

The big problem is something I hadn't notice in the Fudzilla links and only noticed when he mentioned it. The XT has 800/700(1400) and 800/1100(2200) models for the same name. Why not just make another model number to make it easier?

There are now 2 F'in HD2600XT models with what is likely to be greatly different performance. St00pid of AMD to do that! :evil:

Now you can't just recommend an HD2600XT, now you have to recommend an HD2600XT GDDR4.

They should've renamed the model the HD2600XTX. :roll:

Well the 512mb combination is GDDR4. People will just have to look in specs closely in future but the 256meg gddr3 version at that price still rocks.

But not exclusively, and that's my point.

The 512MB XT model comes as both slow-a$$ GDDR3 (GDDR3 could be as fast as the GDDR4 as seen in the GF8600GTS/8800Ultra) and fast GDDR4 varieties;

XT GDDR3-512 @ 800/700(1400):

XT GDDR4-512 @ 800/1100(2200):

That is what I think is F'in ridiculous, they should make the GDDR3 part an XT regardless of 256 or 512, and then only the faster GDDR4 part an XTX.

Well from what I get this is just this particular brands line up, since they don't have a 256mb gddr4 version. That coupled with the fact that ATI usually only give the XTX sign to their highest performance card.. eventually.

Other brands may incorporate something else but this cant be a "xtx" for hose 2 reasons.
