Trying to boot from USB stick

my windows vista crashed recently and is what seems beyond repair, any option (safe mode, repiar mode) ends in a blue screen with the following message

stop: 0X000000ED
0X859527D8, 0XC0000185, 0X00000000, 0X00000000

anyway since this laptop doesnt have a CD drive thus nor do i have the originial vista disks that came with the computer, i have taken a windows 7 bootable img, and put it on a flash drive, when i turn the computer on and command it to boot from USB, it shows windows is loading files loading bar, after that the windows logo appears, after that it just stays a blank black screen with a movable cursor.

why cant it properly boot from USB
