good day, i am very happy to inform everyone i just purchased a 42 inch Sharp Aquos lcd. Wow! really amazing 1080p for my xbox 360. never thought it would compare to pc gaming. Presently i have a 22inch monitor widescreen and core 2 duo @3.4 with 2gigs of platinum ocz ram and an x1900xtx. i could get an dvi to hdmi cable to hook up to new tv but i am afraid my graphics card will not run the 1900X1200. i mean STALKER lags a little full settings running @ 1600X1050. my video card is not that old and to run with new tv, i think i'll need an 8800gtx. i used to upgrade each 6 months my pc but now, since there is not anything new from video cards and graphics manufacturers because of ATI's disapointing 2900 series, i think i'll play a little console gaming. xbox 360 will never replace the first person shooters for pc's like bf2 and bf2142 with the freedom of mouse and all but gears of war really blew me out of my seat and fight night is great. i have to pay 80$ per year for xbox live but it's worth it because no hackers mod the games during online playing. i'm already to go with my vista installed and direct 10 to blow me away but with what i've seen from lost planet, the difference right now is not worth the 800$ i'll have to fork up to get an 8800gtx. anyone know how my x1900xtx will handle my new tv? don't flame because i have some sprinklers overhead.
cheers

Here's what you can do:

1. Go out and buy a DVI-HDMI cable for 10 bucks.
2. Hook up your X1900XTX to your LCD TV.
3. If it runs everything fine, WHOO HOO.
4. If it doesn't, start saving up for that 8800GTX ($800? WTF?).
5. Enjoy watching movies and playing less demanding games in the meantime.
6. Make sure you don't throw a fit if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. lags and run around screaming (OMGWTF! IT LAGS! IT LAGS! I WASTED A WHOLE 10 BUCKS!!!1)
7. Don't chuck your video card across the room. If you hate it, send it to a foster home... I'm willing to accept.

Hey! Hey! He has a question!!!!! Jeez...

To eav: If your current X1900XTX lags at 1680 x 1050, its not going to get better at 1900x1200. it will run at that res., but not with every setting turned to full. What other games (on the pc) do you play? STALKER is going to need some turning down of settings to be playable apparently. Other games might do better. The 8800GTX really shines at that resolution (1900x1200) and would smack that ATI card silly on almost every game out there. Your call on that one though.

1, 2, & 3, You beat me to it, dang.
4. I am hoping that $800 is a misprint. You really are not suggesting that he get an... ULTRA!!! Are you?
5. ...
6. LOL! Agreed!
7. Hey! I am stuck with an INTEGRATED X200!! (The horror) because my 8800GTS died! (XFX's fault, my card had a bad batch of capacitors.) I have bad luck...

Got money to burn eh? Just buy those $10 cable... it won't hurt your pocket compared to possible ability to play in 42" screen. Aquos is awesome screen and one of the best, but I'm not sure if you can really run the pc on the aquos at 1920x1200... the sharp is only up to 1900x1080, isn't it?

If the ATI could not cope with bigger resolution, you still won't loose your $10 since you want to buy $800 card anyway... Must be an Ultra for $800? Not really worthed.. just get a GTX

Heck, even an Ultra doesn't cost $800 these days, you can get the eVGA Ultra for $679 after M-I-R... I'd still recommend the GTX instead though.

Edit: Oh yeah, I doubt an X1950XTX can run max settings at 1920x1080 on anything, but neither can an Xbox360, they've just already turned some of the options off for you.

Everything you wrote if is fine and true but whats in bold. There has never been a system a hacker couldn't crack. If its not already occurring it soon will be. It may require a mode chip which like always comes along. At some point M$ will notice the system is broke. M$ then instead of replacing old hacked systems and drop support for those easy hacked system they will release Xbox 640 or what ever comes next. Then it starts all over again.

This is pretty much the way it is with any new software. Takes a while then you see aim bots, wall hacks, and so many other programs give cheaters the advantage.

I do have 1 suggest on a ways to play hacker free. It requires you to move back to the PC and run your own server. Takes quite a bit of learning but you then can kick anyone you think is hacking. For the most part you can then play the games the way they were designed to be played.
