Help! How do I resolve distorted streamed audio issue?

I hope this is the correct place to post this problem. If not, perhaps a moderator will move it to the correct area.

I can not understand why any streamed music (eg from YouTube site) is horribly distorted, but when playing music on my Windows Media Player or a game in my computer, the sound is just fine.
I recently purchased new speakers thinking my monitor's speakers were bad, but I still have the same problem.

I do not know what info to give except I have a ViewSonic monitor (VX2262wm) and SRS Labs WOW HD for Viewsonic.
My new speakers are Cyber Acoustics CA-3080.
I believe all of my drivers are updated.

Could anyone tell me if I am missing something in my configurations? Something I should have checked or chosen but might not know to do so?

I welcome any and all help on this and would be glad to answer any questions to help get to the root of the problem.
