Windows 2003 Domain
Using GPO to redirect user "My Documents"
All users "My Documents" are redirected to a subdirectory of their user folder on the server.

The user folders at our high school were initially set to go to "\old-server\staff\%username%\My documents"

This worked well.

We replaced the origional server with a dedicated file server and moved all the shared files to the new server, "new-server"

I edited the GPO to reflect this change, but when the users log on to the domain their "My Documents" icon is still pointing to the old server, which is no longer being shared, and all the entries in the registry point to the old server.

If they move to another computer that they have never logged on to before and log on to the domain, all of the "My Documents" references point to the new server.

Shouldn't changing the path in the GPO to the new server have updated the existing registry entries?

Thanks,

RJ
