Hello, i've some incompatibility issue with a 8600gts and my m2v mobo (http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=1716041).

Others ppl have this problem and all the rigs are differents, but 1 things are the same: a via chipset on the mobo and a crappy psu.

So i want to ask u what mobo have u (if u have a serie 8 vga card like 8600 or 8800) and if u've a via chipset on it (and too if u have experienced problems of freeze/black screen or not when u r playing 3d application).....just to make more clear where is the problem...

Thx

Well it seems pretty obvious to me that if there are lots of known issues when running an 8600 with a via chipset, then I would switch to a NVIDIA chipset board.Giga-byte makes a good one,and so does ASUS.Remember, look for NVIDIA chipsets ok.Goodluck.

I wouldn't use mobo with VIA chipset, especially pairing it with a 8000 series vga. Nforce and Intel chipset are good.

But perhaps it is your PSU that cause the problem. What is your psu brand and type?

I never experience any incompatible mobo chipset with vga that can cause your screen goes blank/freeze.

I also have a via chipset on the motherboard and a Geforce 8600 GTS OC. I'm experiencing the same problem. I've been told my PSU is good enough for that video card and the other computer parts have no problem at all, so you might be right.

I have read of many people having problems with 8800 series running on VIA chipsets, so I would safely assume that it's your problem.

However, out of curiosity, what psu do you have?
