I have found a number of sites with information about the TV monitors, but
very little comparing the OTA DTV tuner/receiver. Are they all the same?
If not, what should I look for when picking a tuner?

Be careful when shopping for a digital tuner. Most tune DTV signals only (no
analog). Some tuners have features that others do not. It is also
frustrating when the big stores won't demonstrate how their tuners work.

Actually I just picked up the inexpensive one that Wal-Mart carries and I
noticed that it will only tune the digital channels. Does anyone know what
HDTV tuners also tune the analog channels?

digital tuners don't tune analog channels....maybe that's why they call 'em
digital tuners.

Check ebay. The Sony HD200/HD300 tunes analog & digital OTA, analog cable,
and DirecTV. One integrated program menu.

The Samsung SIR-TS360 does analog cable,OTA digital and Directv as well.
They can be found on ebay for a little more than $200. If you buy one
retail you must activate it with DirecTV within 30 days or they will charge
an additional $150 the credit card you must provide as part of the
agreement. So Ebay or other aftermarket is the best choice if you don't
have Directv.
Many people in the forums bash the ts-360. They had a high out of the box
failure rate when introduced. Mine worked fine. I will be selling it soon
as I no longer need it. The only annoyances were that when changing
channels the screen would flicker for a couple seconds on some channels and
the OTA signal meter was practically useless as it jumped around too much.
LG makes a nice tuner as well.

I have a samsung SIR-T165 now discontinued but it gets all the analog
and digital OTA channels plus I can record HI-DEF onto D-VHS via
firewire really cool.
