For my new build, I plan to get the E6420.

I'd like to know how high can I OC the FSB with G.SKill DDr2 6400 HZ ram on air at 1:1?

Is 400 the highest because of the 400mhz speed of the RAM? Or does the HZ RAM voltage come in to play and I can go 500 mhz?

Still trying to understand the entire CPU and RAM OC'ing thing.

Thanks!

At 1.28 vCore I hit 3.2 by just setting the FSB to 400. Idles at 38 load at around 54, but ambient temps are really high as well since I have no A/C. I did 8 hours of orthos, and it was stable enough for me in games like SupCom.

I tried 405 it booted, but I didn't do any stability testing. My gut feeling tells me there is still plenty of room left on my chip, but personally, until my companies July 4 shutdown, I won't have time to find it.

This is using a tuniq tower btw, with AS5 and a ds3 mobo, and the exact GSkill your talking about. I hope you have as good of luck with yours.
