Activation problem

I have downloaded xp 3 through auto.update.then restarted but "you can not log on without activation of windows xp 3" comes.How can I connect to net without log on.It tried automatically to connect but it did not.I have genuine copy of xp-2.What should I do to activate my copy.

press control+u (i think- should open the narator thing)
look for help or a link to a site or something
when the link opens, you can redirect to control panel maybe?
then you can establish a connection and maybe try the activation again
