With a $1k budget you could do better than a X1950PRO, and besides that it won't even fit your mobo.... it's an AGP card! you forgot to get a PSU too!

try this see if you like it, I tweaked your list a bit:

(Nice PSU and you failed to add a PSU to your list, I power my similar system with the 500 watt unit of the same NeoHE family)

(turned down a notch the CPU in order to have enough budget for the GPU, worth it!)

EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail

(Much MUCH better video Card)

Total at $1021, for gaming this system should tear the one you have above (assuming you switched the AGP card for PCI-e)

Agreed! Sad to say I hate to see you trade the CPU out at the cost of the graphics card but in this case it is well worth it, and if you want you can always upgrade later to quad. One though, have you factored in the cost of the new CPUs come July 22. If you are waiting until than I also suggest waiting on some of the other parts, they may change a few dollars one way or another by that time...

Just some thoughts.

Good Luck

I second EMP's build, but trading out the CPU is worth it, plus with that motherboard you could overclock that thing through the roof!

Not spending 400$ on a video card alone. That's overdoing it, sure it has DX10 compatibility and all, but it's not all that its cracked up to be. I don't like that brand of ram either. I didn't list a PSU no, agreed to that. MOBO, yeah I didn't even notice that crap, thanks. I really don't want to lower my processor speed either.

Questions, is there a different video card I could get thats better then the current? And can I use Crucial instead? Also, I still kinda want a flash; but not over the top case.

Regarding the CPU, wait until July 22 and go with the E6750 and save a few dollars, not to mention pick up some extra perforomance.

Regarding the Graphics Card here are two you could go with, and the step up program is still good if you want to upgrade later

I once read (somewhere in these forums) that as a rule of thumb one must spend 2x or 3x more on graphics card than on the CPU to have a good, balanced build. Sure you can go for a E6600 (a mere 266mhz more...) and bottleneck the hell out of your system with a crappier card or sacrifice the CPU a bit and have a balanced system. your call.

Hell... you are not even sacrificing anything, just set the FSB in the mobo at 300 and you get the same speed as an E6600 + the incredible 8800 performance. And for the record, even if you don't care that much for DX10 they are still amazing DX9 performers, that's why Im getting mine in the first place.
