CD Rom is not responding to the Disc

different makes of rom drive (cdrom or dvdrom) don't have drivers or firmware that you can download from the internet from the manufacturers website. cdrom/dvdrom drives share a generic driver that should be contained on the windows xp installation disc.

if the disc drive is a cd writer or dvd writer, then these drives do require individual drivers or firmware that need to be downloaded from the internet (either the manufacturers website or other reliable source for downloading drivers).
