I'm looking at buying a the gigabyte p35-ds3p board. However the qualified memory seems extremely limitted.

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileLis [...] 5-ds3p.pdf

They do not have any memory DDR2 800 in a 4 gig kit. And only Samsung and Nanya memory for DDR2 667.
How important is sticking to this list?

I was hoping to buy this memory for the board:
http://www.newegg.com/product/prod [...] 6820146692

or this memory:
http://www.newegg.com/product/prod [...] 6820231122

has anyone used either of these memory kits with a gigabyte p35 board? Has anyone used memory not on thier list? If so what happened?

Are the asus memory options this limitted?

Any advise is appreciated.

Had to do the same for the Asus p5k I just ordered. Check out this on corsair's site to see what works. Not sure if other memory companies have this or not...sure they do.

According to this, these will work for you:

Overclocker TWIN2X2048-8500C5D
Extreme TWIN2X2048-9136C5D

Thank you for the good recomendation. I didn't think of that at first. But now I checked websites for, Geil, Gskill, Mushkin, Supertalent, ocz and even corsair. I couldn't find anything on this GA-p35-ds3p, motherbaord. These sites mostly have forums and configuration tools that don't list this motherboard- or list it and say they haven't tested it.

How did you get those Corsair recemondations? The mother board wasn't listed in the config tool and I couldn't find anything in the forums.

Thanks

I went to this URL: http://www.corsairmemory.com/configurator/default.aspx

1. Select "Motherboard" from select the product type
2. Select "Gigabyte" from select the manufacturer
3. Select "GA-P35-DS3P" from select the model
4. Click search
