Hello. I recently started taking care of a network of Windows XP systems. On a number of them, there is an issue with the start menu.

The issue is that when I left-click on the Run, Search, Help & Support, Internet or Email buttons in the main part of the start menu, it prompts to create a shortcut on the desktop. Right-click has no effect at all.

I've noticed that a few registry cleaning programs have been installed on them so I suspect that specific registry entries have been deleted or changed that control these icons in the start menu.

Has anyone else experienced this or could provide some insight on how to fix this? I've search google trying several combinations of start menu and short cut but can't find an answer to my issue.

Thank you.
