Lately ive been getting some seriously modem/internet disconnecting, im not sure which one it is. My cable was provided by my ISP, Charter, keeping jamming itself to death, with only the power light blinking, no activity(send/receive) light, the only way to fix it is to reset the modem.

I phoned Charter and they told me its my router problem, i then tried plugging the modem straight to my pc and it gave the same problem. Whats going on here??

Try a new modem and/or ask neighbors that have the same ISP if they also get outages at the same time. If the later is true, it's Charter and they're lying to you.

It could also be something like a bad cable. It's rare, but I've had it happen before.

You can also go to dslreports.com open free account and do some line quality testing.

Very effective to negociate your isp.

Have the company come out and test signal strength on the line. Friend of mine had the same problem. They put a booster on the cable and it works fine now.
