Stuck on low resolution

Hello

I am using 64-bit Windows 7, an LG W2363D monitor and an Nvidia GTX 560 ti. The monitor is connected using a DVI to DVI cable.

I have had this computer for about a month, running fine at 1920x1080 resolution.

However suddenly the resolution has dropped down to something very low, I think this was after some updates.

Going into control panel or the Nvidia control panel, the computer still says that it is at 1920x1080 but this is obviously not true.

It has been stuck at this low resolution for 2 days now.

It is stuck with a limit of 1680x1050, so setting the resolution below 1680x1050 does decrease the resolution.
However setting the resolution higher than 1680x1050 does nothing.

I need to be at 1920x1080.

EDIT: If I go into Devices and Printers and click on the W2363D (my monitor) then the hardware section just says Generic PNP Monitor.

However using the CD that came with my monitor shows that the monitor drivers are up to date.

no you dont need the monitor drivers it should still go to 1920 x 1080 without it--mine goes to 1920 x 1200 with the generic pnp monitor

if you updated the graphic drivers then go to device manager and roll back to the previous driver--if the roll back driver is greyed out then you havent got an older driver to roll back to

Ok so i must have been on the generic pnp monitor driver when it was working before.

I went to device manager and 'roll back driver' is greyed out. When I asked it to update it said that I had the most up-to-date driver.

What should I do now?

Problem solved!

In Device Manager was a device left over from a remote desktop connection program that I had unistalled ages ago.

This device was modifying the graphics, and as soon as I uninstalled it, everything fixed.
