Video chat mutes speaker and microphone

Hello, I have a problem related to video chat. When I start video chat ( Skype or Gmail)my microphone and speaker automatically disables. At this time I can't hear any music when I play any song on windows media player. When I logout from both Gmail and skype video chat then I can hear song on media player. I need to restart my laptop to start skype video chat but it again mutes both speaker and microphone after a few minutes. I have already updated driver, used system restore, and checked all the audio setting. Please help me soon
