Hi, I am trying to connect an external hard drive up to my laptop via a PCMCIA eSATA card. Model Silicon Image 3512 non-RAID. The laptop picks up the card but not the hard drive. Also, the computer picks up the hard drive when it is connected through USB. For me USB is too slow of a data transfer solution. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.
Try to assign a letter to the hard drive, if possible through Start->Settings->Control panel->Administrative tools->Computer management->Disk management.
Check the Bios for the hard drive also.
I have checked the bios and the drive is not showing up. Also, it is not showing up in disk management so I am unable to assign a drive letter. Thanks for your help.
