OK, after 1-2 weeks of research and homework for my first ever build (gaming rig) I went and pulled the trigger and ordered it at the Egg:

-E6420
-GA-P35-DS3R
-2x1gb Crucial Ballistix 6400 (2 kits)
-Evga 8800 GTS 640
-Seagate Barracuda 320gb 7200.10
-Samsung 18x DVD burner (lightscribe whatever THAT is)
-Thermalright 120 Extreme + Scythe s-flex F fan
-Antec 900
-Corsair 520HX
-Vista 64-bit OEM
-AS5 & AS5 remover and surfacer

~$1500 incluiding shipping with ~100 in MIR's to follow so $~1400 in the end.

I hope I make a good decision! *gulp* I know I'm new 'round here but I'll be back with OC reports on the GA-P35.

Thanks for everyone's input!

Good luck to your in your first build. I'll be attempting my first fairly soon as well. Can you do me a favor and report back on how Vista 64-bit treats you? I'm hoping to use it for my gaming build but I'm a bit scared of it at the moment!

That looks like an excellent set up. You obviously did your homework. Good luck with the build.

Thanks!

Yeah Sleepyhead i'll let you know about Vista 64-bit and games. Well.. the only game I have now is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but that's a graphics hog so should be a good test.

Can you give me price break down for that set up. It is a good setup, but I think it is a liitle bit expensive.

htoonthura, meatnub's right, checked Newegg. meatnub's RAM heavy at 4 Gigs vs just 2 but he does want Vista too..
meatnub, consider the future, might an SLI capibile MB such as the Asus P5N allow for another GPU later on?
Just a thought..
Looks good, let us know how it works out. 8)
