Hello Everyone,

I am a long time visitor here at Tom's Hardware, and decided to register to get gain a clearer understanding on the current condition of my damn CPU.

I have searched high and low, and finally came across the famous C2D thermal guide; but now require a little bit of assistance.

Here is a picture of my readings:

1. Do those look like NORMAL readings?
2. In the case of any program what is the tcase, and tjunction?

CoreTemp reads 85 (85-15=70) <- is that my Tcase?!

Someone please help me with this.

your temps are 55 and 56, the comp was idling i presume....so that makes your Tcase temps at about 40c

the 85 in the pic above the actual temperature readings is the Max Tjuction temperature....the cpu probably throttles if you get to the max Tjunction temps.

those readings are totally normal.

my core 2 duo temps at idle on a cool day are 43c and about 49 on a hot day....that is the Tjuction Temps. I use a Zalman 9500 aeroflower cooler and everything is at stock speed.

Wow, i am relaxed now. Thanks a bunch. I just really hate those small flames sitting next to the Core# in speedfan. But it makes sense now.

TCase = 40°C
TJunction = 55°C

Which is completely normal.

You won't believe how far and wide I searched to find that out wallis. Thanks again.
