Do you have to have the cd to fix the NTLDR is missing on windows xp

I bought a 4 year old used Dell computer with Windows XP. I am getting the NTLDR is missing message and cannot cntrl, alt, delete to get into system. I did not get the disk for this computer and need to know if there are any options for me, other than taking to computer store for repair?
