I do not have the XP CD to fix this problem, as the person I bought this from cannot locate the CD. Do I have another option to fix this?

Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer

I read all of this. I do not have the CD, so this site and this particular information do not help me. My question was, do I have to have the Windows XP CD, as I bought my computer used and the woman, did not have the CD's.

Causes:

1. Computer is booting from a non-bootable source.
2. Computer hard disk drive is not properly setup in BIOS.
3. Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file.
4. Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file.
5. Attempting to upgrade from a Windows 95, 98, or ME computer that is using FAT32.
6. New hard disk drive being added.
7. Corrupt boot sector / master boot record.
8. Seriously corrupted version of Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
9. Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable.
10. Failing to enable USB keyboard support in the BIOS.

Causes 1,2,7 and 9 can be fixed without the windows XP CD.
Try to eliminate these numbers, if something else is the cause of the problem, then you can try to do a backup, and see if your PC has a restore hidden partition.
