So i recently replaced the MoBo and CPU of both my and my girlfriends computer with a Asus P5B-Deluxe and a C2D e6700. I installed the same heatsink (a Zalman HSF) using the same method of arctic silver 5 application described on the AS5 website. I then downloaded the intel TAT and speedfan programs and checked the temperatures.

Here is my question:

Her computer seems to be running as expected with Core Tjunction sensors at about 30 idle 55 100% load and die Tcase temperature at about 25 idle 43 load.

Mine however is backwards with my cores showing the same 30 idle 55 load but my Tcase temperature reading as 40 idle 65 load.

Assuming maybe my bios was outdated i installed the latest bios and that changed nothing. Assuming the thermal paste was poorly applied i washed everything and reapplied and that changed nothing.

So long story short my question is:

1) what the heck does this mean?
2) should i care?
3) If i ever decide to overclock should i care if Tcase is reading 80 as long as Tjunctions are well under 70?

thanks

hmm that is weird, you have a pretty nice and low idle, but your 100 % load is too much i think 55C i assume, look at the temperature guide alot of usefull info on there..

ill tell you this much. im running E6600@3.2GHZ

and im 37C idle 48C Full load.

with Scythe Ninja Plus Cooler and AS5

maybe its airflow through the case?

I didnt fully "button up" my case, 2 open front bays, 2 open expansion slots in the back, and when i closed those off, my tempratures dropped about 5c. I am assuming it was bad airflow through the case.
