Updating steam

Hello, I am having problem with updating steam. When I click steam, it said ' Steam.exe(main exception): To run steam, you must first connect to the internet' , but at that time, I have already connected to the internet. Please help me!!! I beg!!!

If you can't get it to automatically update, you can always uninstall it, download the newest version from steampowered.com and install it again.
