I have a diamond x1950 pro 512mb pci-e.

I installed the new cat drivers 7.6 and every thing is working fine but, today I noticed my computer was running hot so I shut it down for a few hours. I came back and started watching a show and It says my GPU 7834 mhz and the MEM 9400 mhz. I have ATI Tray Tools installed but I have a the overclocking disabled. I know it can't be running at these speeds but it didnt take but 2 or 3 minutes to get hot. Does anybody know what would cause this? I haven't changed any settings on it.

Try reverting to previous drivers.
It's probably a bug with the new drivers.

Your card wont be running at those speeds, but it probably is running at its absolute maximum.

Maybe drop ATI a line so they can fix it in the next release?

Use old drivers or manually try and specify stock clock speeds.

Learn from this one. Make sure you uninstall or reset to default any mods you have done to the drivers settings before updating.

I hope going back to the old drivers help for you. Let us know won't you.

Go back to your stock settings and check that all fans are working inside the computer.

It is running at stock. I even added a new fan to make sure it stays cool. I will contact AMD/ATI and let them know. I will go back to cat 7.5 and see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.
