Internet explorer is not connecting to google?

I have google saved in my favourites. When I click on the google tab I am given the message " OOps Internet explorer could not connect to www.google.com.au. I am using Vista. I have run a scan using microsoft security essentials and Malwarbytes anti malware. No virus has been detected. I have tried to find google using the address bar at the top of the screen. Still can't find it.How do I fix this?
