I cannot access my WLM since I attempted to do the mandetory update. I cannot delete WLE from my programs. Will doing a system restore correct this so I can at least access my messenger to try to do the update again? I get error 80004004 when I try to update. I use Windows XP. Thanks.

Do I need to turn my firewall off before attempting to do the update again?
Thanks.

Try this option:

C:\Program FilesWindows Live\Messenger and find the msnmsgr.exe, right click, properties, compatibility tab, and where say "Run this program in compatibility mode for", and select Win 2000.

Also, install the .net framework 3.5 or better.

P.D. Make you sure that the process in the task manager isn't listed, and you don't need turn off the firewall.
