For CS:S, you're probably okay, but if you intend to ever play any newer games at that resolution, you're going to want something with a bit more kick, and some more memory to boot.
Don't know about the 3d program. It can be tricky because it really depends on the drivers of the card vs the 3d language of the program.
I'm thinking about getting a 8600GT instead. The lowest price on newegg is $99 for the 8600GT and $85 for the 7600GT. $15 dollars difference. But I'm uncertain about the performance because this review says the 7600GT is much better, while this review says the 8600GT is much better. Perhaps there is a driver problem and the 8600GT is better.
