Best Free file managers

Anyone able to tell me if the Cnet or Softpedia downloads of the following are absolutely clean: Free Commander, Xplorer2 Lite or NexusFile? I'm detesting 7's search function but am hearing Cnet is no longer as vigilant about malware in their downloads. Also, I've read some of these free downloads are a bear to remove. At least for me, I don't need to be examining the Registry when I want to remove something I try.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

Mac
