Epson Perfection 4490 PHOTO - Software install problems

Hello, I recently purchased an Epson Perfection 4490 Photo scanner, and upon installing the software, it seems something didn't take. I'm seeing this error message when trying to open Epson Scan:

The application "EPSON Scan" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<EPSON Scan><EPSON Scan><TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb><>"

I'm running Mac OS 10.6.8. I reinstalled all of the software once already, yet the error message still pops up. So far I have been completely unable to scan with the software; however, I can scan from the System Preferences > Print and Fax menu.

install the epson scanner software from the epson website
download http://www.twain.org/mac/TWAINfor_Mac_OS_XSDK.dmg.bin
copy "Libraries/TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb" out of the diskimage TWAINfor_Mac_OS_XSDK.dmg.bin to "Macintosh HD\System\Library\CFMSupport" (overwrite existing file)
