I'm trying to get a recommendation for a cable tester/network tool. I have a really messy patch panel of cables just connected randomly to a few switches. I'd like to try to systematically unplug the patch panel cables and connect them into switches defined for their vlan. Would anyone know of a tool besides a toner that could one tell me from the actual computer wall connector to the patch panel and then, the patch panel to the switch?
Also, anyone have a recommendation of a good network troubleshooting tool that I could plug in that could help identify broadcasting, flooding, errors, etc?
Finally, anyone have any recommendations for a manual that could demonstrate the use of such tools? I'm trying to get back up.
