Windows xp not booting after avg trojans

I ran a scan with AVG and it said I had 3 trojans, but when I wanted to remove them, it said I had to reboot.
Now I can't even use the computer, it goes to the login screen then goes blank.
Any idea what to do here?

Thanks

  1. Try booting into safe mode (f8 on startup). Use the system restore points to roll back to a previous date.

Then boot into safe mode with networking. Download, install, and update malwarebytes (free). Do a full system scan to make sure the PC is clean.
