I'm having a little bit of trouble with my hard drives. Whenever the IDE cable is connected to the motherboard and to the hdd or cd rom, they get no power. But when the ide cable is not connected to the mobo, they get power... I cant figure out just why this is happening because just a few minutes before all I did was rebooted the comp from the start menu..

unplug your cd rom and boot up and see what happens. And if your hard drive is not your O/S, do the same thing. One of them might be goin on ya.
Do you have more than one IDE controller on your mobo? You could try plugging your devices on a separate controller
