Solution
Try this another one.

1. Double click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.

2. Double click on Control Panels folder.

3. Double click on the Add/Remove Program control panel.

4. Click on the Windows Setup tab.

5. Double click on Communications.

6. In the window that comes, there should be a line which says Hyper Terminal. Put a check in the box in front of it, if there isn't already one.

7. Click on OK

8. Click on OK again.

------------------

And for the previous process, try with the XP CD in your drive.

You can either run system restore, set the hard drive back to a previous date before the hyper terminal was lost, all lost files will be restored.

backup all your personal files first...

OR you can do an XP repair, if you have the original operating system disk :hello:

I do not have the original disk, so i cannot do this, i tried to do with add.delete programs, also failed

thank you, but it did not work.
entered the line given, response: file not found, try search,
search yielded: no such file,
went to microsoft.com/download
file not found, cannot download
but there was a message, how to disable that file
to avoid it causing some erratic behavior
nothing about restoring or enabling.
so nice try - no cigar, but thanks anyway

Thanks. I will try that, but I will not be at work until next week tuesday (15th).
Also, I am bit concerned, I have an xp disk for my computer here at home,
no such disk for the computer at work, which is where the problem is.
Using the incorrect disk (no registration match) might cause more problems.

Please do not misunderstand: this is not an illegal setup.
Work means a charity clinic where I track medications in the pharmacy,
the computer (with OS) was donated, without any backup disks!

If push comes to showe, I might have to buy a new OP-sys.
Money out of my pocket.
