hello,

i am currently running 2xgigabyte 8600gts video cards on sli,
with a 750 power supply, when i run a game the game keeps freezing in places. this happens as soon as i start to play the game, so i dont think they r overheating.
can anyone please help me, would 750watt be enough power for this?
thankyou.

pc spec:

AMD 64bitx2 5600+
4g RAM
320g harddrive
220g harddrive
gigabyte m55sli motherboard
2x8600gts

2xusb ports
1xfirewire port

I think I found your problem

I doubt it is a psu problem but probably a driver or compatability issue, mind telling which game(s) are having this problem?

Just thought I would mention that overall wattage is NOT as important as the amperage on the 12V rails....what PSU are you running right now?

BTW, I've been hearing that there is POOR driver support for SLi on Vista rigs...

Use Memtest86 to test your RAM as it could be faulty.
Afterwards, try playing a game with just one stick of RAM (if you haven't already tried)

Was Vista a fresh install? If anything, I would attempt installing a 32-bit OS on a separate partition of one of your HDD's to see if indeed it is horrible Nvidia driver support for Vista.

I won't argue that Vista is better or worse than XP, but it's a bit new right now and drivers haven't really caught up yet. The fact that you're running the x64 edition of Vista only makes things more complicated for ATI and Nvidia, so the drivers are generally going to be worse. Also, a single 8800GTS 320MB is faster and cheaper than your 8600GTS SLI pair, and you wouldn't be suffering from these driver issues.

yea think im just gonna disable sli altogether and sell the other card.
my games still run good just on the one.
