Empty start menu

I've just noticed that my start menu isn't listing my recent programs.
The internet and e-mail icons appear at the top but the rest of the menu is blank

 

[TechSavvy]

Right Click on Start and select Properties
Select Customize on the Start menu tab
Under the Programs section, you can change the number of programs it shows.

This could be set to 0 at the moment perhaps?
