If the X1950pro is out of your price line, you might want to look at the 7600GS for agp. This card offers exceptional performance and is quite a bit cheaper than X1950pro.Also the X1950XT is a PCI-xpress card, not AGP like your system has.So this card would never work.If you buy a X1950XT,you'll need to buy a new motherboard/processor/memory/and possibly a power supply.Essentially you'd have to build a new system.Goodluck.

Your reply is entirely correct. However, there is an AGP version of the X1950XT which i think is from Gecube.

Just wanted to clear that point.

To the OP, Consider the 7600GT AGP, it should be a lot faster than the 7600GS and not much more expensive.

$150 for a x1950GT agp Sapphire. Pretty stellar deal, has a $30 rebate with it as well.

Well you are allready bottlenecking the card so i don't really see the point of getting a stronger card then the 7600gt.

I agree, a 2.6 won't be able to handle the 1950 very well. It also has alot higher power consumption than the 7600gt. If your rig is a stock store setup I would guess that your power supply is pretty low. I would go with the 7600gt or just invest in a new rig all together. Your just decorating a dying horse.

Well i had this problem a while ago.
You could try getting the palit 7600gs and oc it to 7600gt speed that's what ive done core 550 and memory 1350mhz, i know it's not exactly 7600gt speed but it runs cool and stable.
And be shure to buy the palit 7600gs ddr3 version.
