Windows not starting

Hi, I have a computer that's ~2 years old from hp. Every time I try to start it up, it boots normally but right before the windows logo show up, it gives me a message saying that a recent hardware or software change was bad and gives me two options: System Recovery, and Start Windows normally. Of course, neither option works, system recovery doesn't do anything and starting windows normally forces my computer to reboot after a few seconds. It doesn't seem to be a hardware problem as I think my memory, hard drive, cpu are all fine. Would a formatting my hard drive help or any other method work?

that would work... but you'd loose everything
I would try booting to the original windows disk, selecting the language, and then click on repair. Try repairing the OS first.
