I'm looking at this video card, a x1950 gt for an agp slot
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102093

I want to pair it up with this Xclio psu
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817189009

I'm just a little concerned because I've read the card should have 25 amps available on the 12v rail. The psu has 4 12v rails rated at 18amps each, and the card has dual molex connectors.

So if I'm figuring this right, I can plug in 2 separate lines from the psu and not have a problem with enough amps, right? Or am I way off ?

It needs 25 amps on the combined +12v rails (all four together). To find that out, take the watts supplied to the +12v rails and divide that by 12.

Two problems with that PSU: 1) Far more power than you need. Unless you are looking to future proof you could easily get away with a 500 or 600 watt PSU. 2) XClio is not a highly recommended company. Have I used one of their units? No, but I haven't heard much good about them

Take a look at the Corsair HX series or the Seasonic S12's. Both companies are highly recommended and Seasonic actually makes the PSUs for Corsair.

Corsair HX620

Corsair HX520

Seasonic S12 550

Seasonic S12 650

I've looked at mpilchfamily's psu list, it does say xclio is a brand to avoid but it did list that particular psu as a tier 2(it did say there are exceptions)

The damn power sticker on it doesn't say the actual wattage supplied to the 12v rails, only that the 3.3 and 5 lines supply up to 180 watts, I'm assuming the remaining 520 watts are all supplied on the 12v rails which would be 43'ish amps available on the 12v rails(correct???). The user is planning to OC in the future and he has 4 hard drives + 2 optical drives, I wanted to make sure he had clean and stable power although I'm sure you're correct about it being too much power

I'll take a look at the psu's you listed, thanks for the advice.
