I am trying to ssh into a server that does reverse DNS lookup... however, apparently my isp does not support that (I have DSL with dynamic IP) or I just don't have a hostname for one reason or another... Any ideas how I can get around this? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

can you tell me why he "claims" that? Anyway, your only other option is to buy a static IP from your ISP, which usually comes with a name. It's going to cost you, though. Normally static IP is business grade which of course is considerably more.

But I fail to see why DDNS wouldn't work for you? I'm running it myself and it works fine.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
