I just did a fresh install of slackware 8 and sometimes when I boot up, it would go to LOAD LINUX...... half way through, then it pauses, and says CRC error, and SYSTEM HALTED.

This happenes about 60% of the time, I can use my boot disk to boot into slackware just fine, and sometimes, it boots up without problem. So, should I reinstall linux anyways? Or is there a fix for this?

Well my guess would be that there is a CRC error on your HDD (as it states), you could format it, install Linux again, and hope that it works. I don't know for sure, but it looks like the CRC's on your bootsector... FDISK /MBR could also do the trick... I don't know if there's such a command as format /mbr...

It can be either physical error (scratch (hope not)) or just magnetic, which should come clean off when formatted (usually)... Hopefully this is of any help...
