What qualities do I have to look in digital cameras in order to buy one?
What do you think about canon A40 and nikon 2000(i think)?

You should take a look at a few digital photo dedicated sites. Here are a couple I used in choosing my camera (Canon S30).

The "camera comparometer" is very useful though you may need a fast connection to appreciate it.

I almost bought the A40. I think it's a good camera for the price. It's a very personal choice, but I like the color balance/image quality of the Canons.
