I’m planning on building a system with an ASUS Striker Extreme, a Q6600, and running Vista 64bit. I want 2x2GB, and have been looking at the following…

Which might be better, and should any of these have a better chance of working with that motherboard, as none of them are on the QVL for that board.

OCZ Vista Upgrade 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800

OCZ2VU8004GK: 5-6-6-18
$199.99 after rebate

OCZ Gold 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800

OCZ2G8004GK: 5-5-5-18
$235.99

Patriot eXtreme Performance 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800

PDC24G6400ELK: 5-5-5-12

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231112
F2-6400CL6D-4GBMQ: 6-6-6-18
$204.99

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122
F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ: 5-5-5-15
$209.99

From the list above, I was thinking the Patriot eXtrame for 199.99, or the G.Skill for 209.99

I was also considering spending a little more and getting 4x1GB at DDR2 1066, but I saw quite a few threads about people having problems with 4 pieces. Plus I would like the ability to add more ram later if needed.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevan

Those kits are the best two, and you're correct with what you say above, the 2 x 2GB would be better for the reasons you have stated, if you want 4GB that is :)
