I've got two geforce 7900 gt's, and I'm trying to decide on an (amd) mobo. Would they even utilize the bandwidth of the 590 chipset? or would the 570 chipset do fine?

I found the 590 to be very picky with RAM. In fact, I returned it. The 650i/680i would be a much better choice.
To the OP, the best way to figure out, is to read customer reviews, such as newegg.
I almost bought an (AMD) nForce 590 board... but then I read the Core 2 Duos were coming out
But yea, I've read too that the nForce 590s are picky with RAM, however, they should work regardless. Would be better if you could use the 680a, but that chipset, as of now, is only found with the 1207 socket That and it's very pricey.
OP did say AMD. Maybe he can fit one on a 570/590? Maybe not! It's been a year almost, but I bought the first NVidia SLI chipset available for a 805-D. Thinking back it was the 570, not the 590. I was using 2 x 512 OCZ Gold PC5400 667 mhz. RAM. I managed to get windows loaded, but was getting errors on memtest. I tore it down and returned the board to Newegg. Bought an ASUS P5LD2-VM 945, built it with my OCZ gold and still have it running with my 805-D about one year later. Use it all the time. Anyway, a bit of confusion on my part on the chipsets. Maybe the 590 solved all the problems I incurred with the 570.
