Right click on your desktop and select properties (can also be accessed from Control Panel then Display)
Click on the Settings Tab
Under Screen resolution - use the slider and slide it to the right most position.

If your monitor is detected properly (and also with most LCD), the right most resolution setting will be the optimal setting your monitor supports.

You could also post your Monitor make and model information and we could probably tell you. Or check the manufacturer's website for resolution details.
